ELEANOR F. HICKMAN, 86 of Rising Sun, MD, died May 31, 2013 in Calvert Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Hickman was born on December 23, 1926, daughter of the late Clarence and Mable Way Fogg. She was raised in Kennett Square, PA, and after her marriage she moved to Kent County where she raised her family. After her husband's death she worked for Fox's and McCory's stores. She later moved to Nebraska and in 1987 returned to Rising Sun, MD, where she lived with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Lynn. Mrs. Hickman was active with Rising Sun Homemakers and Janes Methodist Church. She enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, flowers, gardening and all kinds of handcrafts. Mrs. Hickman was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Robert Joseph Hickman, Jr. in 1967; 4 children, Mandy, Jamie, Timmy and Robbie Hickman; her brother and sisters, Bud Fogg, Elizabeth Murphy, Pat Willis, Esther Bramble and Dot Stumpf. She is survived by 3 daughters, Kathy Thomas (Lynn) of Rising Sun, MD, Janet Gorsuch (David) of Chestertown, MD and Becky Curlis (Steve) of Omaha, NE; 2 daughters-in-law, Pam Hickman of Easton, MD and Suzanne Hickman of Florida; 2 sisters, Dolly Clayton and Marion Reese; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3 at 11 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where friends may call 1 hour prior to service.
